Ages 8 and up
Fairly
Odd Parents and SpongeBob Key Chains (BasicFun):
Key Chains and Back Pack Clips are all the rage. SpongeBob is even a real
working flashlight! Our testers just
thought these were the coolest! They average under $5.00 and come in tons
of styles from SpongeBob, to Nemo, and mini versions of games like
Operation. This website http://www.ultimatekeychains.com/
has a lot of them.
Girl
Power Diary (Mudpuppy Press)
Although our 10-year-old tester had a journal for school she loved getting this
one that she could lock! Although she hasn't divulged much to her mother,
she has said that she really likes it's "Girl Power" images. Her
mom said she remembered getting her first diary that locked. She said
"her greatest challenge was keeping it away from her brother who liked to
try and pick the lock!" It brought back some nice memories for her!
$10.00
Invisible
Secrets (Swingset Press) At
just $10.00 your grandchild will just love being able to pass notes around
undetected! I know I would have loved this in school! Our tester age
10 thought that this was just the coolest thing! She loved the fact that
if the teacher saw it or a classmate grabbed it that it looked just like a blank
piece of paper! A great stocking stuffer or a gift for one of the days of
Chanukah that won't break the bank! (Also won in the Today Show 2003 Toy
Test!)
Glitter
Roller Ball (Dirty Girl) This is for the
girls! Our 14-year-old tester thought her dad was just the coolest when he
brought this home for her to review. She's not allowed to wear makeup but
this is just a subtle bit of glitter. She's in the marching band so now
she uses it before every game. At $10.00 it's a winner. After the game, she
cleans off with Dirty Girl Soap - it's a nice treat at $8.00. Available at
Ulta stores everywhere.
K'NEX
ReKonstructors
(K'NEX Industries) "Wonderful. Another great toy by
K-Nex." said the mother of our 8-year-old tester. He thought it was amazing how the pieces change into three different toys.
He loved the different ways of creating the toys and said it made it more
interesting because there was variety. Ages 7+, $9.99
Burt's Bees Lip Balm
(Burt's Bees) At just $1.99
you can't go wrong with this. This is probably the best lip balm to soothe
chapped lips. They are an Earth Friendly company and their product is all
natural. Plus it won't break the bank!
Crayola
Spider Writers (Binney & Smith) These cool pens are available in
metallic colors and are a blast. They have a special ink that allows
you to write with a weblike design. They look great on black paper and are
a fun alternative to crayons and gel pens! Ages 7+, $4.99
GelGems
(Design Ideas®) These funky, fun, clingy stain-glass-type, decorations were
created by a chemist who specializes in adhesives. This was his
unintentional “discovery" and they are quickly becoming a hit! They
can be used to decorate refrigerators, windows, sliding glass doors, mirrors and
more. Their alphabet set is a fun gift to send to college kids and younger
kids like the holiday inspired themes. They range in price from $1.99 to
$34.99.
