Toddlers

ABC Train (by Mega Bloks, ages 1-5, $9.99) – The train with blocks itself is a great idea. Our teacher-tester reported that the children had fun stacking the blocks as high as they could go on the train and then move it around. Great for eye-hand coordination and color recognition.  Younger children don't get the letters, but it's nice that they are there!

My First Princess (Fisher Price, ages 3+, $9.99)  Our 3-year-old tester was given this to test in the bath, however she had a lot more fun using this in her play pool.  Ariel became her primary outdoor toy this summer and her mother couldn't be more thrilled.  Her mom loved the fact that this doll not only dried quickly, but has seemed to remain mold free - a typical water toy hazard.  They both agree it's a great toy for little princesses everywhere!

Little Builders Construction Vehicle (by Mega Bloks, ages 1-5, $9.99)

These fun little cars were really enjoyed by our little testers.  The come as a fire truck, police car and ambulance. The tops are interchangeable as are the bottoms and they come with additional block pieces.  These little vehicles make for great restaurant play toys while waiting, and are also great for traveling - if you keep the case!  Our testers had a great time with them.

Rainbow Fish Mini Cube Puzzle (Mudpuppy Press)  Our 3-year-old tester just loved this puzzle, first, she's a fan of puzzles and secondly because she loves Rainbow Fish's sparkly scales!  Her mother loved the puzzle because it can be taken anywhere, never requires batters, has a sturdy box with a handle and can be built alone or in the case of her daughter, with a little help!  At $9.00 this is a great stocking stuffer.  Note: Other characters are available such as Curious George and Arthur!

Healthflow Blue's Clues and SpongeBob Insulated Cups (Munchkin) - My son just loves this sippy cup because he gets his orange juice fast!  I love it because it doesn't leak, doesn't sweat and his name stays on longer than on most cups.  The kids may not be excited about it - but us Moms are!

Where is My Elf Hat?  At only $6.99 this is not only a great gift, but one that keeps giving and giving for quite a few years!  The is a way to celebrate Christmas all the way up until the actual day.  Your grandchild gets their own personal Elf (you or their parents) who visit them regularly.  The Elf communicates their wishes, stories etc. to Santa and leaves little letters for your grandchild behind.  Our little tester was stunned when she found out that an Elf had visited her while she was out. The mother of our tester thought it was a really sweet tradition, and although she liked writing the letters, she loved watching the reactions!  Online at http://www.elfhats.com

Holiday Advent Calendars - Most Advent calendars are under $10. Here's a link to hundreds.  There are also calendars that count down the eight nights of Chanukah. We found a great "Chanukah Countdown" calendar by WJ Fantasy for $12.95; you can purchase it by clicking here.
