Gifts for Babies

Zutano Clothing:  Our reviewer just loved the clothing that she got to review from Zutano.  She said that the colors are adorable.  She really loved the soft fabric as well as the coordinating and versatile designs. She loved that it could easily be pared with other clothes. Machines washable and tumble dry-able. I would definitely buy more from this brand.  Really cute gift idea since the outfits are complete and you can pair the gift with the Minzi Mice which are adorable!

8 Body Styles and 10 Bright Colors! A distinct and complete collection, the Velure line features 8 comfortable body styles, each offered in 10 fashionably bright solid colors. Sizes run 0-3m, 6-12m, 12-18m, and 18-24m.

Laugh and Learn Learning Home (Fisher Price) Ages 6 -36 months, $59.99
This was reviewed by a new mom and several of her friends kids.  The seven month old was intrigued by all the little items that he could put in his mouth - like the mail.  He also liked the colors and sounds.  The two-year-old that played with it though really used it for all of it's bells and whistles.  He loved crawling in and out of the door and getting the responses from the buttons he pressed.  "It's easy to see why this is an award winning toy" says our tester.  "This is fabulous!" It kept all the kids within the age range entertained at various levels.  The mom really liked that it taught opposites, numbers, colors, shapes and songs.  "It's a great gift for for any child!"  (Winner of the Mom-Tested! Pick Award by Parenting Magazine and Winner for Ages (0-12 months) by Parents Best Toys of the Year Magazine)

Clip and Go Musical Mobile (Tiny Love) $24.95 This great mobile quickly attaches to baby carriers, strollers and car seats, which is great for  keeping your little one occupied on the go.  They are battery opperated and each features five classical music pieces.  They have great colors and stimulating images.  As the baby grows parents can switch the images to 3D characters such as a turtle or bunny.

Tiny Keepsakes Our testers were able to review a variety of Tiny Keepsakes products and were just thrilled with the quality of each product.  The loved the detail of the embroidery and fabric quality.  Tiny Keepsakes offers a wide selection of wonderful blankets, hooded towels, and note cards.  Tiny Keepstakes was started by DeDee Heinsen, a mom with the desire to provide high quality baby gifts that would be both unique and useful.  Prices vary depending upon the product.

Teddy Toes (Go Baby) $39.99  According to our Mom (and baby tester) this is "Great for those times you want to put them in the car without a coat."  For example she says, "The other night my husband drove our daughter home in her pajamas and we knew she would fall asleep in the car." Nice thing is it is easily removable and washable. This would be a good gift for a new mom or the second time mom who has everything.

Nail Clippers with Bear Files (Tweezerman)  Probably the worst thing for a new mother to do is clip nails -- that's why this kit is so nice.  There are nail files for when you're not ready and the clippers when you are.  The clippers are sturdy an big so your fingers won't slip and the blade cuts without tearing!

Open Wide / Sweep Pea (Metal Morphosis) These awesome pewter spoons  were created by Kaycee Binns - an artist whose work is inspired by her grandmother and all the imaginary worlds and characters she created for her during storytelling times.  We gave these spoons to a new mother whose son was just about to start solids and she was thrilled!  She loved the intricate design and lettering and said the size was "just perfect."  Since they are pewter they are completely safe! They are made in the USA and cost $20.00 each.

White Hot Safety Duck Tub (Munchkin, $14.99)

This tub is inflatable, padded and safe. It has a safety disc that turns white when the water is too hot and a textured bottom to prevent slipping. It's easy to pack and easy to inflate. It's perfect for children 6 months to 2 years who are old enough to sit upright unassisted. Our mom-tester loved it. She used it for her baby son, and her daughter, age 3, loved to make it quack!

Whoozit Activity Galaxy (by Manhattan Toy Company,  $13.95) Our 7-month-old teether just loved this toy.  With the Whoozit smiling face to the rubber rings, bright colored fabric - who wouldn't love it.  Both mother and baby agreed this was one great toy!

IQ Baby My-Oh-My-Octopi (Small World Toys)
The giant purple octopus is large and sturdy enough for our 4-month old tester to lean against. According to his mother, "I can wrap some of the tentacles around and he touches or studies the pockets, mirrors, beads and teethers. The underside of the octopus is covered in different patterns, some black and white and some colored. What really gives this toy a boost is the baby octopus puppet that comes along with the big one. An adult can wear the puppet on one hand and mesmerize a tiny baby with the moveable tentacles. Although this is an expensive toy, I think it is worth the investment because of its versatility. At 4 months my son is just starting to enjoy the large octopus, but the baby puppet has been intriguing him for much longer." Ages Newborn to 36 months, $70.00

Melody and Motion Activity Toy: (Baby Einstein) Our 3-month-old tester just loved this and so did his grandmother. The baby loved the sounds the beads make as the toy rotates and the grandmother loved the fact that it plays "Fur Elise" by Beethoven.  She said " it's construction is solid and it is a real music box!"  A real winner!  Ages 0+, $9.99.

Bath Puppets (Baby Einstein) Our 4-month-old tester just loved this and so did his mother.  Our tester is already a fan of the Baby Einstein videos so he really loved taking a bath with characters he knows.   They are soft and gentle on the skin and our mother loved watching her son giggle during tub time! Butterfly Spinner (Chicco) Ages 6-18 months, $14.99
According to our mom reviewer, "my 6-month year old daughter really loves it, in fact when she's not playing with it my 3-year-old son can be found with it.  The plunger is the perfect size for her little hands.  Since she is just about sitting up on her own, she hangs on to the toy to rebalance herself when she starts to teeter.  She seems to really like all the colors.  I think it’s an adorable toy, seems really sturdy, and I would definitely give it as a gift."

Turtletunes (Lamaze) All ages, $24.99
"Both my 3-year-old and 1-year-old love this," commented our Mom.  "My son loves to make music and my daughter just loves to chew it!  The colors and textures are great. It is just the right size for her little hands."

Baby Travel Gift Pack (Graco) $24.99  "This is a great gift for a new mom," commented our reviewer.  "This is a perfect gift because it includes a lot of necessary items that are often overlooked.  Can you imagine a summer without a roller shade?  Well this kit has it!"  It includes a Roller Shade, Car Seat Protector, Infant Head Support, Infant Harness Covers, Elephant Car Seat Mobile.

Baby Looney Tunes Diaper Bag (Warner Brothers) $21.95.  This nine-piece set includes a Bottle Holder, Changing Pad, Fork & Spoon Set, 3 Washcloths and a Waterproof Pouch for those messy days.  While our reviewer said she probably wouldn't have picked out this pattern herself, she did think it was a cute bag that would accompany her son to daycare.  If you're a Looney Tunes fan you'll love this!  It’s spacious and comes with all the necessary accessories like the changing pad and waterproof pouch. A good supplementary bag to have. The size makes it the perfect daycare bag.
