friends 2B made:  Have you ever been to a Build-A-Bear store?  Well Friends 2B Made is their latest concept.  When you visit a friends 2B made store they get to visit ten stations where they would make their dol.  Dolls cost $12 and there are 14 dolls to choose from that vary in ethnicities and hair styles. Outfits and accessories can then be purchased that start at just $2 and complete outfits are $8.  Although there isn't a friends 2B made store near us yet, there probably will be.  To see if there is one near you for an outing with your tween granddaughter click here.


Fashion Angels Design Sketch Book (The Bead Shop) Ages 8+, $14.99 
Our 8-year-old tester, a sewer, knitter, potter, and budding artist just loved this set.  Since she's already creating fashion items for her dolls on her grandmother's sewing machine she just loved this kit.  She had a blast creating designs for the Fashion Angels.  The book contains a pad of Fashion Angel templates, markers, mini color pencils, a sharpener, and an eraser. When your done designing you can save all your drawings in the inside pocket. This is a great, creative gift!

CHARM IT! My Memories Scrapbook  (High Intencity) $16.00

Our testers, ranging in age from 4 to 9 just loved the beautiful headbands and hairclips from Andrea's Beau.  They come in a variety of styles from fancy - like the Brocade one's feature, to more simple styles that incorporate velvet and ribbons.  They are stylish without being too sophisticated.  Our 7-year-old tester commented that the purple brocade headband was just like "Princess Jasmin" from Disney's Aladdin.

 

Tinker Bell Hat, Scarf (Disney) $24.99
Keep your tween warm and cozy this winter with this hip set from Disney.  Themed with Tinker Bell our 9-year-old tester thought it was just great.  She loved the way the hat fit and the scarf was soft and comfy.  She thought it was fun in a "retro-way."  It's a nice gift at a great price. That's So Raven Pink Purse (Disney) $18.00
Our tween tester, aged 11-years-old is a big fan of the "That's So Raven Show" and was thrilled with this fun and fashionable purse.  She loved that she could fit all her fun accessories in it like lip gloss, hair brush, mirror, purse and other goodies.  She loved it's pink furry fabric and hip detailing.  She said she feels "very grown up when she's carrying it."  She said, "it will easily hold a cell phone when my mom lets me have one!" This is a great magazine for tween girls. Each issue has crafts to make, activities, puzzles, games, and more.  The holiday issue has Christmas crafts to make, mini-mysteries, holiday stickers and more.  It's a really nice alternative to those teen magazines that focus on fashion only.

 



And if you want to do your own research to find out what your granddaughter might be seeing on the Web, click on some of these sites. Be warned: They all have annoying pop-up ads and launch extra advertising windows. Just close the ads out as you surf. Here are some of the hot sites: GirlZone, GirlyNation, YM, Gurl, Seventeen.
