RatatouilleRatatouille Walt Disney/Pixar, Rated G, $29.99

As always Disney and Pixar have served up another great film.  Ratatouille, the story of country rat named Remy whose gift for smell and taste has him marked as the poison detector.  Remy arrives in Paris only to discover that his cooking idol, Auguste Gusteau has died.  While Remy is observing the happenings at the restaurant he spies the new garbage boy mess up the soup.  Hs talent and desire to cook, as well as Gusteau's famous phrase that "anyone can cook" spurs him into action.  It isn't long before Linguini, the garbage boy is the talk of the town.   The movie has great animation, fun music and of course it provides entertainment for both kids and adults.  This movie has been watched again and again and each time it's entertaining.   Click here to read more.

Peter Pan   Finally, on 2-Disc DVD Peter Pan has arrived.  All the magic of Neverland, Peter, the Darling children, The Lost Boys, Captain Hook and his pirates, and “Tic Toc” Croc. This timeless movie has been thoroughly enjoyed by our kid-reviewers and their parents.  Although all are fans of "Pirates of the Caribbean" this great tale isn't quite as scary.  It has great music, including one new song, both picture and sound have digitally enhanced so the picture is fantastic.  The DVD also includes includes "In Walt's Words: Why I Made Peter Pan", the making-of featurette "You Can Fly", as well as a sneak peek at the upcoming movie Tinker Bell.  There are some other great bonus features that the kids will also really enjoy - like flying over London.  Kids old and young will enjoy this movie - and so you grandparents!

Pixar Animated ShortsPixar Animated Short Films: Volume 1, Pixar,

This DVD features the shorts that you sometimes get to see before one of the Pixar films (if your kids/grandkids) don't press fast forward.  These are gems though.  This DVD includes: The Adventures of Andre & Wally B, Luxo Jr., Red's Dream, Tin Toy, Knick Knack, Geri's Game (one of my favorites where a man plays chess against himself with his dentures being the final prize), For the Birds, Mike's New Car, Boundin', Jack-Jack Attack, Mater and the Ghost Light, One Man Band, and Lifted.  Some of them tie in with the movies, like Mike's New Car is Mike from Monster's Inc., and his new car has everything wrong with it.  Mater and the Ghost Light is a mysterious blue light haunts the "Cars" town of Radiator Springs and Jack-Jack Attack is the baby brother in The Incredibles who was thought to have no super powers - and boy are they all wrong!  This is a great DVD is you are fan of Pixar, if you like cartoon creativity at it's best and want some humour that the whole family can enjoy.

Meet The Robinsons Walt Disney Video, Rated G, $29.99

The kids who have watched this DVD have all agreed that they "love it."  Many of them had seen it at the movies and were thrilled to get a sneak peek of the DVD before it hit the shelves!  The story centers on a 12-year-old boy genius named Lewis.  He invents a machine that recovers forgotten memories.  When his machine fails at the science fair he's crushed, but things are about to change.  Lewis meets a strange kid named Wilbur Robinson who warns Lewis about the mysterious "Bowler Hat Guy" lurking around the science fair who Wilbur claims is from the future.  Wilbur and Lewis then move on to the future where he meets the Robinson family and the fun begins.  There's no profanity, no sex, a little bit of violence and mostly good clean fun.  The animation is good and most importantly the kids like it.  This movie is a fun, quirky Back to the Future type romp that parents and kids will both enjoy.

Jungle BookThe Jungle Book (Two-Disc 40th Anniversary Platinum Edition) (1967) Walt Disney Video, Rated G, $29.99

This has to be my favorite kids movie ever made.  The story is great, the music is fabulous and it never, ever gets old.  My kids and I were so excited to receive this because we've had it on VCR forever and to finally get it on DVD was a treat.  The two-disc 40th Anniversary edition features includes the standard bonus features like interactive games, music videos, and deleted songs as well as some rare commentaries by Walt Disney.  There are also some featurettes about specific aspects of the film.  Real fans of The Jungle Book will appreciate "The Bare Necessities: The making of The Jungle Book" featurette.  This DVD takes the classic movie and really brightens up the images and makes the story come even more to life.

For those of you who may know know the movie, although highly unlikely, it is loosely based on the story by Rudyard Kipling.  It tells the tale of Mowgli, a human boy brought up in the jungles of India.  The story has good versus evil, stories of friendship and love.  It's a must own for every parent and grandparent!

Charlotte's Web (Paramount)

I remember when the animated version of Charlotte's Web came out in 1973. I was 6-years-old and I remember crying my eyes out! I was worried that my daughter would do the same when she watched this new version, but surprisingly she said that it wasn't sad!

This latest version is a live-action adaptation of E.B. White's classic book. It's a story about friendship, miracles, life and death. It's rated G, but does have some older themes, including natural death as well as, well, unnatural death -- the slaughtering of pigs. Wilbur, the runt of the litter is destined to become bacon... but he is saved by three compassionate friends. Fern (Dakota Fanning) is the young girl who claims him as her pet, and Charlotte, the spider (Julia Roberts) is the web-weaver who helps impress adults and saves Wilbur’s life. Templeton, the rat in his own way helps too.  Many of the characters have equally famous voices and exceptional personalities including two cows (Kathy Bates and Reba McEntire), a pair of geese (Oprah Winfrey and Cedric the Entertainer), a horse (Robert Redford), and Templeton the rat (Steve Buscemi). The movie captures the original story well, while mixing in a good sense of humor. Grandparents/parents may have to be prepared to discuss the cycle of life, and if your kids afraid of spiders you might want to wait, but for most this is a great story that all will enjoy!

Curious George (Universal Studios) Rated G, $29.98
I am crazy about this movie. I loved it in the theater and I still love watching it at home. I brought it on a recent road trip as a surprise for the children and they watched it again and again, all weekend long. Even for those of you who weren't big fans of the original Curious George story of the man in the yellow hat bringing back a monkey from the jungle will like this version. It's a much more humane story and the character of George is completely endearing, sweet and lovable. As expected, George gets into a lot of inquisitive trouble trying to help the man in the yellow hat (Will Ferrell) while songs from Jack Johnson play in the background. The Jack Johnson songs are fun and catchy, leading children to recognize them on the radio and them wanting to sing along.

Cars (Disney/Pixar) Rated G, $29.99
Cars shines brighter then the wax applied to its characters' NASCAR counterparts! Many of our kid reviewers saw this in the movie theaters and loved it. Now that it's out on DVD, it's an at-home treat that kids can watch again and again. The kids just think it's funny: From Lightning McQueen's snowboarder moves to the tractor-tipping in the fields, everything about this movie makes them crack up. The parents enjoy the little subtleties that the kids just don't get — like the fact that one of the racecar sponsors is htB (hostile takeover bank), and the appearance by "Click and Clack" from "Car Talk." It's these little things that make this movie a treat for all.
