Street Food   This book is fun, education and mouthwatering! Tom Kime, a well seasoned chef traveled across the globe tasting street foods from everywhere to pull together the best of the best. His travels included Latin America, the Caribbean, Middle East and more. The recipes are in categories like "Finger Food", "Fresh, crisp salads", and "Best in a bowl." The recipes are easy to follow, often accompanied by gorgeous photographs and easily combinable into meals, thanks to his included "Menus."

This is a great book for food lovers and people who want to try new things. It's also great if you want to learn a little about each country, as Kime has added information to help aid in the experience. If you have ever traveled abroad this book will have you yearning for those familiar foods!

Written by Hope Ricciotti, M.D., an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, this book simply, clearly and with great photographs details what a pregnant (or postpartum) mother should eat.

The book also has great tips for getting your body back - which our mom reviewer thought was great! She commented, "turning 40 and having a third baby really did my body in. Even though I'm nursing, it's really hard to lose those last 10 lbs. This book is packed with good foods, that taste great, are good for both of us - and most importantly are easy to prepare!" She also commented that she "loved the fact that the recipes had details like 'rich in calcium, carbohydrates. These tips are really helpful if you're trying to keep balanced!"

The book includes over 50 recipes for breakfasts, dinners, snacks, and more and makes a great shower gift!

When I was in college for Hotel & Restaurant Management we attended quite a few wine tastings.  It was fun to watch everyone swirl their glasses, sniff the "nose" and look for the legs.  This brings back some of those lessons.  I love the fact that he refers to the taste as the "money shot" after all isn't that what it's really about to us novices?  This book gives you great information at the tip of your fingers with his "cheat sheets,"  "outsmarting the table" tips and telling you what's on the "star's" tables.  There are great tips and fun lessons, but it's also a fun read. I'm so far from a wine connoisseur, but I've enjoyed the book and will be passing it along to my father-in-law a true wine lover. $18.00

Christmas Family Gatherings (Chronicle Books) $22.95
This book is like Martha Stewart meets practical life.  There are ideas and suggestions that anyone can do.  The recipes and directions are simple and clearly explained.  Most things are accompanied by great photographs.  One of my favorite are the Reindeer and Snowman thumbprint cards.  If you're feeling ambitious you could make the carnation snowman and if you aren't you can just make Hot Cocoa.  There's something for everyone and the kids can certainly help!

Gifts for the Cookie Jar (Cookbook Resources)  This great recipe book is packed with recipes in a jar.  You can make one or two for your grandchild and all they have to do is empty the contents, add a few ingredients and they are ready to bake.  For kids who love to cook (like mine) this is an ideal gift.  It's something that the Mom's will love too!  The book includes labels that you can cut out and paste or tape to the jar.  It's also something that you can do with your grandchild for a Mother's or Father's Day Gift.  A t $6.97 it's a bargain!
