Our latest visit to New York's American Girl Place was to celebrate my daughter and my niece's birthdays. My daughter, Madison who turned 8, brought her Nellie doll, my niece Emma who was celebrating her 6th birthday, brought Samantha, and my other niece, Sydney brought her Felicity Doll. If there's one thing that girls want to do when they visit American Girl Place is get their doll's hair done and this is a great way to do it. The girls (and parents) were brought into the theatre where the were taught by a very bubbly girl about the ins and outs of doll hair design. The instructor was excellent! She explained very clearly to the girls about how to brush the hair, how to style it, what NOT to cut etc. She was very good at getting audience participation and most of all getting the kids to respond. All the girls in the audience really seemed to enjoy this hour of instruction. At the end, the girls were able to complete a "pony tail flip" which they were all very proud of. You can't visit American Girl place without shopping, so I bought my daughter the new holiday robe, her grandparents bought her and her doll matching pajamas. My brother and his wife bought their daughter a "Just Like Me Doll" for her birthday, and my other niece was able to select a sweat suit that was her favorite pick for Felicity. All in all everyone had a great time and it was a really fun experience! What's included: This 60-minute class is packed with fun and fancy hairstyles for girls to try on their dolls. They’ll also see a special Pampering Plus demonstration. Each girl will receive a Doll Hair Care Kit (a $14.00 value!).
