"Crazy Grandad" with kids in Ritz Carlton Pool.

During the course of the day, my parents used the gym, had lunch, took pictures of the kids, and visited the casino. They loved the property and commented that "the Ritz Carlton is great because the kids have fun, you know they are safe, you can see them when you want, and still enjoy your vacation as well." They reported that "the kids enjoyed it so much they kept begging to return to the 'Ritz Kids.' That must be a sign that they loved it!"

We felt very pampered at the hotel. The hotel and rooms were impeccably maintained. The staff was always courteous and professional. The food was great, the casino was fun, and a great day was had by all. The hotel has truly elegant accommodations, four fabulous restaurants, a state-of-the-art spa, and a 24-hour casino (which of course I visited -- and lost at!). If you are looking for a first-class hotel with first-class services, look no further!

The Ritz Carlton Hotel, San Juan, Hotel, Spa & Casino is located on eight acres of prime beachfront property in Isla Verde, within five minutes of Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport, 12 minutes from the main business and financial district, and 15 minutes from historic Old San Juan.

Dorado:  Hyatt Dorado Beach Hotel and Country Club

Our next stop was to the breathtaking beaches of Dorado where we all traveled to spend the day at the Hyatt Dorado Beach Hotel and Country Club. The Dorado Hotel is located on the north coast of Puerto Rico, and the Hyatt Dorado Beach Hotel is nestled on a secluded white crescent beach. Built by Laurence Rockefeller in the 1950s, this spectacular 1,000-acre oceanfront hotel was a legendary getaway for presidents, royalty, and Hollywood's elite.

Grandma Janet at Dorado

This natural beauty has seen its fair share of famous guests in the past that have included the Kennedys, the Johnsons, the Eisenhowers, Liz Taylor, Bob Hope, Ava Gardner, and more. It has been fully renovated and restored to its original splendor, and is truly a tranquil spot. The rooms are located overlooking the ocean, and many of them have private balconies that lead out to the beach. There are hammocks scattered all around the property so you can relax while the grandkids play.

I started out my day there with a site inspection while the family swam, snorkeled, and relaxed. My mom had fun on the hammocks once she figured out how to stay on! I was taken on a little tour around the property during which I was able to check out the very nicely appointed rooms, the championship golf course, the gym and spa, Camp Hyatt for children ages 3-12, the 13 tennis courts, Blue Dolphin water sports, and nature trails.
