Winter at Woodloch

Are you looking for a winter getaway that includes three great square meals and an abundance of fun? Well, Woodloch might be just the place for you. Woodloch Resort & Golf Community -- better known as "Woodloch Pines"-- is a four-season resort in the Pocono’s in Northeastern Pennsylvania, about three hours from Philadelphia and 2 ½ hours from New York.

It’s located on Lake Teedyuskung which was frozen when we arrived. There are ice-fishing huts and people snowmobiling – which although walking on the lake is discouraged, it is fun to watch from the safety of land!

This was our second trip to Woodloch, but our first in the winter and what fun the kids had. The kids went swimming in the indoor pool, climbed the “trees” in the Woodloch Forest - an indoor climbing room with tubes, slides and soft mats for kids of all ages and of course went on the Snow Tube Run.  The Forest is great because it offers things for all ages.  There's a small section for kids aged 5 and under and the larger section for all the bigger kids.

The Snow Tube Run is man made and provided hours of entertainment for my kids and husband. My kids and husband also took a run on the snowmobiles, which weren’t free, but were well worth the money for the fun the kids had.

During the stay you are given three meals a day in the family-style dining room. Every meal is tasty, including their amazing homemade breads, muffins, dressings and of course crumb cake! All of which can be bought take home at the end of your stay.

On Saturday night we took in one of the shows. Although they offer a nightclub show we decided to spend the evening with our kids and take in the magic show. The kids were amazed by the magician who was great with the kids. After the show he took time to talk to the kids and let them try “plate balancing” again! My son, who was reluctant to go to the show, was the last to leave!

On Sunday, our last day the kids wanted to cram in everything again.  We visited the bumper cars and the forest and for extra fun there was a petting zoo.  My oldest child had a blast riding on the ponies.  They also brought rabbits and goats, but the ponies were the biggest draw!

Woodloch is a great place to visit anytime of the year. There’s a long list of activities, and almost all are free:
