Easter Gifts
Alternative Easter Basket Ideas

Fur Real Friends Newborn Piglet and Lamb (Hasbro)  Our testers just love these cute little lovable critters.  Their fur is soft, they make adorable movements, are perfect take-along size and make realistic sounds.  The kids have had a blast playing with them.  They are a great alternative to a "REAL" rabbit which people sometimes get this time of year!  They don't require any "real" food, water or care and will never be dropped off at a shelter!  $12.99

Dancing Eggs (Haba) This game is so much fun for kids they'll be asking to play again and again.  The game is comprised 9 rubber eggs, 1 wooden egg and two dice.  The red dice tells you what to do either grab the die, bounce the egg, cluck etc.  The white die tells you where to put it - under your chin, in the crook of your arm etc.  Just when you think that sounds easy you have to run around the table without dropping any of your eggs. The game ends when a player drops an egg and the winner has the most eggs.  It's a great game for family fun! Age: 5-99 years $14.99

Easter Cookie Coloring Kit (Byrd Cookie Company)  Here's a fun treat that you can buy your grandkids.  This great kit can be done together before Easter or given as a gift.  The Easter Cookie Coloring Kit comes with four shortbread cookies printed with confectionery ink and includes two edible ink markers for coloring and personalizing each cookie.  They come packaged in a cute little tin.  "These cookies were as much fun to make as they were to eat," reported the mother of our two testers.

Eggs 2007 and Springston (Ty) Can you ever go wrong with a Beanine Baby?  I don't think so, they are cute, collectible and look great in an Easter Basket!  For just about $7.95 you can't go wrong!  These are just two of the new beanies that are just perfect for Easter!

Starlet Shimmerella RoosterStarlet Shimmerella Rooster (Manhattan Toy) Okay, this might not be your typical Easter Basket stuffer, but this Rooster is just too cool!  With a boa and sparkley shoes I just fell in love with it at Toy Fair.  Older kids will appreciate the humor of this dressed up rooster and smaller kids will just think it's cute!  $19.95

Chicken Cha Cha Cha (Rio Grande Games)  To say that we play this game every night wouldn't be an exaggeration. This game is definitely one of my daughter's favorites.  It combines memory and skill and is just a blast. The object of the game is to collect your opponents tail feathers, but to do so you must remember where all the tiles are.  It's a really well made game with sturdy cardboard and wooden pieces. Unfortunately for me her memory is much better so I almost always lose! Ages 4+, $37.95

Shopping for an older grandchild?  Here are some fun suggestions that won't break the bank - or their teeth!

Kakuro (Franklin Electronics) With over 1 million puzzles your grandchild will never get bored.  There are three different skill levels, a built in timer and an auto-off feature, as well as other features including sounds.  This great game is similar to Suduko but more like a crossword puzzle with numbers.  So how do you play?  Well the Kakuro grids can be any size, but the squares inside must be symmetrical.  The more blanks the harder it is (usually)  There are clues which is great if you are just starting out.  If your grandchild is already a fan of Suduko they'll love this. $24.95

Crossword Puzzle Solver (Franklin Electronics) If you are addicted to crossword puzzles (or want to get your grandchild addicted) and they just don't have the skills yet, this is a fun gift.  This has over 250,000 words including cities, presidents, movies stars and more.  If you're stumped it can find the missing letters to give you the word, finds alternate solutions and more!  This is a great little gift to help a new crossword puzzler! $29.95
