Did Daddy's Hair Go?
Written by Joe O'Connor, Ages 5-8, $14,95
For any father that's losing or has lost some hair they will enjoy this book. In this story Jeremiah's daddy is missing a lot of hair and he can't think about anything else! Jeremiah searches everywhere for the missing hair, thankfully he
realizes that if his father isn't too upset, perhaps he shouldn't be either!
My
Father the Dog
Written by Elizabeth Bluemle, $15.99
This is a very cute that kids will enjoy and parents will giggle at as
they read it. This book shows the similarities between Dad and the
family pet. It shows about the "fuzzy in the morning", fetching the paper,
lying around for hours, and even the occasional pit stop behind a tree.
The illustrations are cute, the sentiment is sweet and it makes a nice
Father's Day gift.
The
Very Best Daddy of ALL
Written by Marion Dane Bauer, $12.95
This is a very sweet book and a very nice
gift for a new father. It shows what various animal dads do
for their child. The gorillas groom their young, the emperor penguin
shelters his chick, the lion plays with his cub and more. It is
nicely illustrated and children will enjoy the images of the pairs.
At the end of the book you'll find a bonus Father's Day Card.
What
Daddies Do Best Written
by Laura Numeroff, $6.99
The author, Laura
Numeroff, who has written great kids books like "If
You Give A Mouse a Cookie" and "If
You Give A Moose A Muffin" has written this book to celebrate Father's Day every day! This sturdy board book depicts everything daddies do best, from reading bedtime stories to making a snowman.
This is an abridged version - the full size book has "What Mommies Do
Best" on the flip side. They are great books and you'll enjoy
reading them as much as your grandchildren (or children) will enjoy
listening.
This Is The Van That Dad Cleaned Written
by Lisa Campbell Ernst, $15.95 This
is a very cute book that reminds me of "The
Napping House" by Audrey Wood in the way that it's
written. Dad takes his three kids for a ride and his once
sparkling clean car becomes demolished in one trip. It's fun to
read, has very cute illustrations and is a great reminder of how fast kids
can destroy the interior of a car. A good chuckle for any dad on
Father's Day!
Big Shoes: In Celebration of Dads and Fatherhood
Written by Al Roker, $19,95
This book is a collection father-child stories from Al Roker and
"friends" including Katie Couric, Ann Curry, Matt Lauer as well
as others like NPR's Nina Totenberg. It's a great gift for the
father in your life - you can make it extra special by writing and dating
your own story inside. The final piece, Roker reminds readers that when dad's no longer here, it's up to his kids to fill his "Big Shoes" and keep walking.
