 Pharaohs,
Pirates and Astronauts -- Oh My!
When I was a kid I couldn't wait to go the
local "5 & 10"
to look at the new Halloween costumes in the box, hoping my Mom would get me
one. Do you remember them? They had plastic masks with little rubber bands that inevitably broke, and
scrappy outfits that barely fit the part? Well, I never actually wore
those costumes - as much as I may have wanted to. My mother sewed my
costumes. Looking back I must say I was very lucky! Over the
years I was a gypsy, a witch and a clown, my brother a vampire and
Frankenstein just to name a few. They were always very inspired and beautifully made by mom.
Now costumes are everything from Pharaohs and Yoda to Pirates and
Princesses. Looking for old fashioned favorites? Never fear
there is always Spiderman, witches and an assortment of ghosts and ghouls!

about now!

 "Get
Real Gear"
AeroMax makes wonderfully realistic costumes that are great for Halloween
and character play all year long. The Astronaut costume on the right
was sent to us has been worn non-stop. It's even promoted other boys
in the area to purchase them for their Halloween costume! The Ninja which has been enjoyed by our 4-year-old tester
last year is still a favorite this year as is the Jr. Camo Gear costume.
For the
girls, AeroMax offers some cool and stylish costumes like Cowgirls, and Camo
Girlsl We're waiting for the picture from our tester on this one, but
we heard that she just loves it! Apparently she wants to wear it all
the time -- which is great because why should Halloween be only one day!
We've tested some of the other costumes in
the past including the police officer (pictured right). Our testers
have commented that they are so real -- it's cool! The chef's outfit
tester has been told that she can't wear it to cook in until after Halloween
- although she insists that food on it will make it appear more authentic!
The firefighter has been having a blast since it's been Fire Safety
Prevention month, and the Racing Car driver - we'll he's a NASCAR fan - so
need I say more!

 Disney
Princesses & Fairies: For traditional Halloween glamour, be sure to check out the
Disney Belle, Cinderella and Ariel costumes. This
year the twinkle won't just be in your little trick-or-treater's eyes!
Disney has gone all out to make the Belle costume just perfect from the ruby
slippers to the light-up rose wand. Our 6-year-old tester modeled it early
with sheer delight! (As you can see!) These revamped, deluxe versions of
Cinderella, Belle and Ariel retail for $79.50. They feature detailed
fabrics with brocades, lace and rhinestones and bows. One of our youngest
testers was happy to be Tinkerbell wings and all! The deluxe Cinderella and
Belle sets, as well as, Jasmine, Snow White, Mulan, Tinker Bell, Kim Possible,
Minnie Mouse and Pocahontas costumes retail for $39.50. All costumes are
available in sizes XXS-L, except for deluxe styles and Kim Possible which are
available XS-L.
 Pirates!
For the less traditional, but
definitely hot this year you'll want to check out the Pirates of the
Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest inspired costumes, like Jack Sparrow, Davy Jones and Elizabeth Swan. Our testers had a blast dressing up in the
costumes in advance and acting out as pirates! The costumes feature amazing
details such as Davy Jones's tentacle beard, a right hand claw, dimensional
and textured barnacles. Elizabeth Swann's jacket is so stylish many of
the moms wanted to wear it themselves! Disney Store's Captain Jack Sparrow has optional accessories that include a spyglass, earring, ring and
eye patch. All boys’ costumes are available for a suggested retail
price of $39.50 except Davy Jones deluxe costume, which retails for SRP
$79.50. Costumes are available in sizes XXS-L, except for Pirates costumes
which are available XS-L.
All these costumes can be found at the
Disney Store. For store locations in the U.S. and Canada, call 800-757-5933.
