Back-to-School Books

First Day Jitters:

Here's a book I wish I had a year ago when my son cried every day for a week about preschool.  In this book it's Periwinkle's first day of preschool and he's a bit nervous.  Joe and Blue helps him realize that it's okay to be nervous but that he's going to have fun.  This is a cute book for your grandchild going off to school for the first time.  It covers meeting the teacher, circle time, recess, daily schedules and more.  The book also includes a cute little poster.

Substitute Teachers:

Little Bill is a little wary that his regular teacher will be gone and he'll have a substitute teacher.  He and his mother reminisce about kindergarten worries and it helps him put his fear at bay.

Little Bill is a character created by Bill Cosby on Nick Jr. he takes little challenges and helps them figure out how to handle them very well.

First Day Fun:

When a cute little mouse stowe's away in a backpack it had no idea that he would be whisked off to school.  Mouse discovers shapes, colors, books, dolls and friends!  The colorful drawings and catchy phrases will have your grandchild requesting this book again.

At first glance you may think this is a Halloween book, but actually it's a cute little book, in comic book style, about a Vampire who wants to go to school.  There is one problem though, Vampires can only go out at night.  He and his ghoulish friends solve the problem and he begins going to school and he makes a friend.  His friend is an orphan and lives with his grandparents which makes the subject matter definitely for older kids who can grasp the comic book approach to certain subjects. Also the illustrations are great.

Do you have a great Back-to-School suggestion?  If so send it in!
