I Am Alive (Random House Audio) $14.99 This audio book is a collection of stories told by Marine Sergeant Major Charles R. Jackson and Major Bruce H. Norton.  When Chief Petty Officer of the U.S. Navy was given an opportunity to write a prisoner-of-war card for his wife. He was allowed ten words. He used three-- "I AM ALIVE!".  The only disappointment with this audio book was that it was so abridged we felt something may have been missing and would have enjoyed more of the stories.  However, it is definitely worth listening to.

Flyboys (Time Warner Audio Books) $31.98  Written by James Bradley, it's the story of nine American flyers that were sent to bomb Japanese communication towers and they were shot down.  The only one of the nine rescued was George H. W. Bush Sr.  the eight others were held in captivity and brutally murdered.  When the war was over the American government and the Japanese government covered what had happened on Chichi Jima up with everyone left behind wondering what had happened.  This was one of the best audio books my husband has ever listened to. Click here to listen to an excerpt.

I Don't Know How She Does It: The Life of Kate Reddy, Working Mother (Random House Audio) by Allison Pearson

This book is a must read for any working mother, or stay at home mother!  As a former working mother and now a stay-at-home trying-to-find-part-time-work mother I must say that this book really hit home!  Although Kate Reddy had a much more demanding career than I ever had, the difficulties of balancing motherhood and work are the same.  This book will have moms who are trying to strike that impossible balance laughing and cringing at the same time!  It's a great gift that I plan on giving my sister, sister-in-law and mother!

The Brethren (Random House Audio) $31.95 by John Grisham

I enjoyed listening to this book which involves  three imprisoned ex-judges (the "brethren") who concoct an elaborate blackmail scheme that preys on wealthy, closeted gay men. Their scheme traps a potential  presidential candidate Aaron Lake, who is basically a  puppet.  The  book is read well by Michael Beck. It keeps your interest and is fast paced.  The only downside was the ending which could have been much better.

Tricky Business (Brilliance Audio) $31.95 by Dave Barry, it is absolutely hilarious. I laughed so much while listening and driving that I thought I would have to pull over. A story of a casino ship, drug dealers, members of a retirement home, and more, make this a hysterical story and fun ride.  Definitely NOT to be listened to with the grandkids in the car!  This is all for your listening pleasure!  - Janet H.
