Spy Tool Kit (Wild Planet, ages 8 and up, $19.99)Any "Spy Kids" fan will appreciate the gadgets in this kit, which won an award from Child magazine in 1999. It's got a listening device with headphones, a pen light, and a telescope/microscope, all mounted on a cool-looking hand grip. Our tester had a ball peeking and listening in on family members (who enjoyed playing along). Don't forget two AAA batteries and one 9V battery. For a real budding Bond, you can buy additional spy gadgets separately, including night-vision goggles, a gadget-loaded spy pen, binoculars that let you see behind you, and much more.

This was tested by an 11-year-old boy. He reported that he set up the receivers all over his house so he could tell when his younger sister was approaching his room - or if his parents were coming. He thought it was a really cool gadget and had a lot of fun with it. He did comment that he thought it was better for kids older than 6. Although he thought the mapping was difficult he said it was great, and a must for all spy kids!
Is there a spy out there who can't pass a lie detector test? Why not learn how to trick one now - or have one ready for your next interrogation? Our 8-year-old tester had a blast using this a a slumber party. Instead of playing truth or dare they just fired questions and decoded to see who was telling the truth! The fingertip sensors react to skin chemistry just like a real lie detector and an instruction book tells you how to read the signs. Get one today -- we dare you!

Covert
Voice Modulator
(Discovery Channel Store, ages 7 and up, $16.00)
We tested this at home and had so much fun my husband took it to his office. It still hasn't come back. Everyone keeps using the modulator to change their voice when making phone calls. You can change your voice to sound like a cartoon character or robot, as well as make it higher and lower pitched. The headset fits everyone from adults to children and the modulator attaches easily to a belt clip. A fun gadget for any would-be spy!
